Assocations
There are four key associations for law teachers in the UK. Membership is drawn in varying proportions from all sectors, including higher and further education and commercial providers.
- Association of Law Teachers (ALT) – organises an annual conference and other events, publishes a regular bulletin and a refereed journal, The Law Teacher. LERN, the Legal Education Research Network, supports research into legal education and law teaching.
- British and Irish Law, Education and Technology Association (BILETA) – promotes the use of technology in legal education with members at the institutional level. BILETA’s main activity is its annual conference,, with most conference papers archived on its website.
- Society of Legal Scholars (SLS) – organises an annual conference and annual seminar, publishes a regular newsletter, The Reporter, and a refereed journal, Legal Studies. Has 28 subject sections including a Legal Education Subject Section.
- Socio-Legal Studies Association (SLSA) – represents the socio-legal community, bridging the divide between law and social sciences and the humanities. SLSA organises an annual conference, and publishes a regular newsletter and a refereed journal, the Journal of Law and Society.
